Role Overview
The Engineering Teacher delivers hands-on robotics and coding instruction to students using the curriculum provided by ckingknowledge Institute. This role focuses on developing students’ technical competence and human skills—confidence, agency, teamwork, creativity, emotional resilience, and problem-solving—through structured coursework and guided exploration.
This role begins as a volunteer position and transitions to a paid role as sufficient revenue is generated through parents and/or grants. The target pay for this role is $55 per hour, and the position is expected to become full-time as the Institute grows.

Compensation

Initial status: Volunteer

Paid transition: Once sufficient revenue is received from parents and/or grants

Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
-
Instruct students using the ckingknowledge Institute Robots & Coding curriculum
-
Teach robotics, engineering, and programming concepts through hands-on learning
-
Deliver structured lessons aligned to Robots & Coding 1 and Robots & Coding 2
Student Guidance & Skill Development
-
Guide students in designing, building, and programming robots
-
Support development of problem-solving, critical thinking, and debugging skills
-
Encourage creativity during brainstorming and design sessions
Classroom Culture & Team Development
-
Promote teamwork, collaboration, and sportsmanship
-
Facilitate respectful discussion and peer learning
-
Foster student confidence, agency, and emotional resilience
Learning Environment & Safety
-
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment for all students

Maintain appropriate classroom management and safety practices
Onboarding & Teaching Progression
As part of onboarding, the Engineering Teacher must complete the following progression:
-
Complete Robots & Coding 1 and Robots & Coding 2 as a student
-
Obtain Robotics Coach Certification through the REC Foundation
-
Shadow existing Engineering Teachers to learn instructional delivery and classroom flow
-
Begin teaching independently while being supervised by a Senior Engineering Teacher
Qualifications
-
Genuine passion for STEM education, especially robotics and engineering
-
At least one year of experience teaching middle school–aged students
-
Experience teaching technical content (math, science, engineering, or similar) to any age group
-
Experience with VEX IQ robotics or similar platforms (preferred, not required)
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage children and teenagers
-
Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire young learners
-
Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to the full teaching schedule
-
Ability to work independently without supervision or reminders
-
