Job Title:     Volunteer Youth Robotics Coach (VEX IQ Robotics Competition League)

Overview:     We are seeking passionate individuals to volunteer as Youth Robotics Coaches for our VEX IQ League in Southfield, Michigan. As a coach, you will have the opportunity to inspire and mentor students aged 8-15, fostering their interest and skills in robotics and engineering. This is an unpaid position that offers a rewarding experience and a chance to make a positive impact on young minds.

 

Responsibilities:
1.    Conducting robotics training sessions for the VEX IQ League team.
2.    Providing guidance and support to students in designing, building, and programming robots.
3.    Assisting students in developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
4.    Promoting teamwork, collaboration, and sportsmanship among team members.
5.    Facilitating discussions and encouraging creativity during brainstorming sessions.
6.    Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
7.    Preparing the team for local and regional tournaments by organizing practice sessions.
8.    Attending team practices on Saturdays.
9.    Attending tournament competitions on Saturdays or Sundays, once a month.

Qualifications:
1.    A genuine passion for STEM education, particularly robotics and engineering.
2.    Experience with VEX IQ robotics or similar platforms (preferred but not mandatory).
3.    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with children and teenagers.
4.    Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire young learners.
5.    Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to the specified practice and competition schedule.
6.    A background check is required.
